Introduction to DeckCheck

New to DeckCheck? This quick guide covers everything you need to know: importing, Deck Scan, tuning tools, Smart Search, and more.

Welcome

Welcome to DeckCheck

Hey, I'm Anthony—the solo developer and creator behind DeckCheck. Whether you just made an account or you're still deciding, this post walks you through everything DeckCheck has to offer. It'll only take a few minutes.

If you prefer video, here's the full walkthrough that covers the same content:

DeckCheck is a smart Commander deckbuilding platform that transforms how you build and discover decks. If you're tired of not getting any help on Reddit and Discord forums, feeling frustrated with your deck, or just trying to level up your deckbuilding—you're in the right place. DeckCheck is packed with smart tools woven into every part of it that will radically improve your deckbuilding experience.

Getting Started

Importing & Deck Scan

The fastest way to get started is to bring in a deck you're already working on. You can import directly from Moxfield, Archidekt, ManaBox, and more—just paste your deck URL or full deck list and DeckCheck pulls everything in.

The first thing I'd recommend doing with any deck is running a Deck Scan. This gives you a complete breakdown of your deck: an overview of what it's trying to do, a primer on how it wins, its weaknesses, any combos it contains, and an exceptionally accurate bracket placement with a full explanation of why.

You'll also see your CRISPI score (click here for more info on this): the Consistency, Resilience, Interaction, and Speed Performance Index. Think of it as a stat line for your deck. It tells you not how powerful your deck is, but how it plays. Fast but fragile? Slow but resilient? CRISPI captures that.

Smart Tools

Tuning & Trimming

Now let's talk about the tuning tools.

  • DeckTrim: If you're sitting at 112 cards and need to cut to 100, DeckTrim identifies the weakest links in your list and recommends what to cut—and why.
  • PowerTune: PowerTune reads your deck list, understands your strategy, and recommends specific cards to add or cut.
  • ManaTune: ManaTune analyzes your deck and recommends cards to optimize your mana base so that you can play your deck as you intended to.

Here's the part I love: you can set a max price per card, so every recommendation stays within your budget. And if you've added your collection, DeckCheck can prioritize cards you already own.

Discovery

Smart Search & The Roaster

When you're looking for something specific, Smart Search lets you find cards using plain language. Instead of memorizing search syntax, just type something like "green ramp that draws cards" and you get exactly what you'd expect.

And then there's the Roaster—which, yes, has AI roast your deck. It's genuinely fun, and many players actually find it useful too because it has a way of calling out weaknesses you might be blind to.

And More

Even More Tools You'll Love

And honestly, that's just scratching the surface. DeckCheck has so many more tools built in:

  • Playtester: What I genuinely believe is the best playtester out there, built right in.
  • RuleCheck: Quick answers to complicated rules questions specific to your situation.
  • Commander Quest: A quick quiz that recommends your next commander and gives you a head start on brewing.
  • Community Features: Public profiles and stat tracking so you can show off your decks to the rest of the world.

How Credits Work

Using the site, building decks, tracking your collection—all the standard things you've come to expect a deckbuilder to do are free and unrestricted.

What is restricted, however, are some of the smart tools. Free accounts get 3 credits per day, which resets every 24 hours. A Deck Scan is one credit. A PowerTune is one credit. And so on. You'll always know if something costs a credit because you'll get a pop-up.

All of this to say: you can use every feature on the site without ever paying a dime—it just requires some patience.

Welcome to DeckCheck

DeckCheck works beautifully on mobile, and it's built to help you build better decks—not just store them. Import a deck, run a Scan, and see for yourself. I think you'll be surprised at how much it changes the way you build.

Thanks for reading, and welcome to DeckCheck.
